"The Cactus Stones of Southern California: Dr. Paul Apodaca, Associate Professor of American Studies, Chapman University"

Wednesday, May 7, 7 pm

$7 General Admission, $6, Members

Dr. Paul Apodaca, Associate Professor of American Studies at Chapman University will talk on the mystery that surrounds "The Cactus Stones of Southern California." These so-called "cogged stones," named so because of their indentations that give them the appearence of a cogwheel, are remarkable in that they are found nowhere else in the world. The stones are dispersed over a wide area of the historically recorded Uto-Aztecan language group of Southern Califronia, with large deposits found along the Santa Ana River valley. The highly entertaining Dr. Apodaca will speak on the symbolic value of the stones.
