Sara and Amon Luckey are truly ‘lucky in love.’ The pair, who attended high school together as casual acquaintances, crossed paths again several years after graduation at a popular south Orange County watering hole during the Super Moon. Having reconnected over a cocktail on the patio, the two spoke non-stop all the way towards the soft sand of the nearby San Clemente beach to admire the glowing Super Moon. “It was as if time stood still,” said Amon. “I felt that this was the person I had been waiting for,” remembers Sara.
In the happy period spent dating (which included Amon’s memorable introduction to over 30 members of Sara’s family during a holiday party, and an exotic ‘just-the-two-of-us’ trip to Bali), the couple became certain that they were bound to be together. Sara began planning a special gathering: a surprise birthday party for Amon. Sara, however, was in for a bigger surprise: on the evening of the event, Amon took Sara to the beach and got down on one knee to pop the question! Both of their families were there to witness the happy couple rejoice in their engagement, as well as Amon’s birthday.
The couple decided to marry locally, and chose Casa Romantica for its architecture, ocean views, and event services. “When my friends have asked me for my wedding planning secrets, I tell them that Casa Romantica is so breathtaking on its own. I didn’t need to add much to enhance it, and the vendors that Casa Romantica’s Private Events Team paired us with were amazing.”
Sara and Amon created a ‘Spanish Vineyard’ ambiance for their September wedding with eucalyptus and gold accents. #LuckeyInLove was the couple’s creative wedding hashtag and they made a point to subtly add those lucky details in any way they could. There was a lucky horseshoe placed over the guest entryway, and every bridesmaid wore a gold ‘lucky horseshoe’ necklace. These little additions contributed to the theme without overwhelming the natural beauty of historic Casa Romantica.
The couple also had incorporated lucky heirloom pieces from their families into their big day. Sara wore a tennis bracelet from her grandmother and chandelier earrings from her great-grandmother, while Amon wore his father’s gold watch.
The sunset wedding procession on the Ocean Terrace included twelve bridesmaids clad in stunning taupe gowns, and twelve groomsmen wearing tailored deep blue suits. All members of the 24-person bridal party sported an elegant gold-flecked eucalyptus and white rose floral arrangement courtesy of Collected With Love.
After the ceremony and cocktail hour, the newlywed Luckeys, their family and friends settled in to a vineyard-style dinner al fresco in the Historic Courtyard with rustic furniture from Signature Party Rentals, bountiful eucalyptus centerpieces from Collected With Love, the Casa’s own starry string lights, and a tasty, customized Mediterranean menu from Carbonara’s that fit exactly with Sara and Amon’s vision. The couple’s parents and bridal party made poignant speeches that kept guests laughing and wiping happy tears from their eyes. Before the night ended, everyone gathered under the glittering chandelier in Casa Romantica’s Main Salon to watch Sara and Amon cut a ‘naked cake’ artfully adorned with white and gold accents and to see the newlyweds share their first dance. Adrian Jon Photography captured each unforgettable moment masterfully.
