Andy and Maggie met during their senior year at the University of Michigan. Following a year of tailgates and competing in ultimate Frisbee tournaments together, Andy and Maggie realized that they were meant to be. The pair both love to travel and one of their favorite trips they took together was to Tokyo, Japan. They visited during the winter, and the beauty and culture of the country left a lasting impression. When it came time to propose, Andy knew that there was no better place than Japan, and he cleverly booked another flight there over a long weekend. He surprised Maggie in the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden by proposing to her during their morning stroll.
Although they live in the midwest, Andy and Maggie decided to have a destination wedding in California. The couple toured several venues, among them wineries and landmarks, but none of them could compare to Casa Romantica’s serene oceanic backdrop and unmistakable California vibes. Their decision allowed family to travel to the West Coast and experience the coastal view.
Maggie and Andy knew that they wanted a cool, casual wedding. They fell in love with the historic Spanish architecture of Casa Romantica and made sure to incorporate aspects of that as well.
A color palette of deep ocean blues accented by bright, vibrant colors helped bring their vision to life. Cobalt-hued glass goblets and Spanish tile table numbers were striking against the crisp white linens at the dinner reception area in the Casa Courtyard. Designs by Trisha created stunning floral arrangements with coral roses and succulents that echoed Casa Romantica’s color palette.
On the day of their wedding, Andy and Maggie had been together for an incredible 3,710 days. Andy’s favorite moment was seeing his beautiful bride walk down the aisle to “Wishes” by Beach House. “It’s something that I’ll never forget,” he says. The couple decided against catching a glimpse of each other before the wedding — which made the instance that much more special. They were married outdoors on the Ocean Terrace as the afternoon mist cleared.
The sun broke through the clouds as the music sounded for the newlyweds’ first dance. Epic 1 Entertainment made the audiovisual ambiance elegant throughout the event and kept the energy levels high. He was universally recommended to Andy and Maggie by everyone that they talked to.
Though Maggie and Andy didn’t need another reason to celebrate, it just so happened that the Michigan basketball team made it to the National Championship on the same day as their wedding! This can only bode well for their travel-filled future together.
