When you hear the word “wedding,” what comes to mind? The beautiful white gown donned by the bride, the stunning decor and thoughtful personal touches, the tiered cake. Amidst all of this, the groom is often lost, despite the fact modern men play significant roles in wedding plans and prep — and who’s to say that Mr. Wonderful didn’t also obsess over choosing the perfect color, texture and fit of his suit for that First Look?!?
Without further ado, here is a post for the grooms!
Tips for choosing the perfect suit for your wedding day
While your wedding should be the embodiment of your love for your significant other, it should also reflect your character and personal style.
Going with a classic black tux or suit is a safe bet, and entirely appropriate for the event. However, if that’s just not you, you’ll find that there are limitless options to express your flair and unique style.
Ensure the perfect fit
First and foremost, the way your ensemble fits could make or break your outfit. If you find that the shoulders of your jacket are a little too small, or that you’re drowning in a sea of cloth, make a visit to the tailor your number one priority. Whether you are buying or — importantly — even if you’re renting!, the majority of shops will make alterations, so don’t be afraid to ask for adjustments. Get alterations made 1-2 months before your wedding date; most places can accommodate rush orders for an additional fee if you need to make a last-minute adjustment.
Coordinate your look
Another important element of your attire that you should take into consideration is coordinating with your spouse-to-be. Make sure that whatever color and fabric you decide on goes with both your partner’s outfit, and the venue itself. A beige linen suit, for example, is a much better fit for a casual beach wedding than a formal ballroom reception in a hotel.
Experiment with styles
Don’t be intimidated by different colors, textures, and patterns. Express who you are with a tux in velvet or linen, or wear a solid-colored suit with a statement tie.
Dress groomsmen to complement your look
Traditionally, the groomsmen wear attire that matches or that is similar, but these days, it is entirely up to you. Many modern brides and grooms choose to have their wedding parties follow a color or style theme rather than wearing the same outfits.
Even if all the groomsmen in your wedding party don’t wear the exact same suit or tux, it is important that their outfits match in style. If your wedding palette has two colors, for example, you can wear one of the colors while the groomsmen wear the other.
Say it with accessories
If you choose to match in the traditional way, there are still numerous ways to spice up your outfits. Accessories are a fantastic way to subtly include your personality into your wedding attire! A pair of socks sporting your favorite team, a crazy pair of cufflinks, or a meaningful piece of jewelry are all great ways to make your look complete.
Whatever your unique groom’s look is, we at Casa Romantica wish you the best on your special day!
