What is a “Micro Wedding”?
A micro wedding is an intimate affair, typically with no more than 50 guests. They still feature time-honored traditions that make a wedding, but on a much smaller scale. Ready to go micro? We compiled a list of planning tips you’ll need to make this small-scale celebration as memorable as a blowout bash.
Why Choose a Micro Wedding
Thinking small doesn’t mean your day is. Thinking small means you can do more, celebrate in a unique way and spend more time with the people around you. Micro Wedding by definition are those that are celebrated with 50 people or less and are more casual than traditional weddings. If you’re wanting a longer honeymoon or fun day of activities, Casa Romantica can help you.
Cover the Basics
Micro Weddings still need food, guests, some kind of entertainment and of course, you! A wedding coordinator can help with a lot of the details and help bring your micro wedding to life. We suggest starting with these two decisions:
Who to Invite: Narrowing down the guest list for your Micro Wedding might be one of the toughest decisions you’ll make. It can also take a lot of the pressure off of you and your fiancé for the day of events. One way to do this is to create a chart of circles: immediate family, bride party, relatives, friends. This can help you count up your guests and omit the circles that will exceed your attendee list.
Food Selection: Having fewer guests means less food, and can enable you to make upgrades like the vendor specialty appetizers you were on the fence about and the late-night snacks you were going to do without.
Must Haves
The pressure of having “it all” on your wedding day can be overwhelming. Making a list of “must haves” for your wedding will help you decide what’s important and create less stress and more fun during the planning process.
These are our recommendations:
Photographer: An intimate wedding enables your professional photographer to capture more of those sweet, candid moments with your new spouse and your guests.
Family-Style Seating: Casa Romantica has several different spaces that make accommodate large tables for a family-style dinner. Think customized nameplates and a beautiful floral arrangement from one end of the table to the other.
Statement Seating: Inquire about special seating with our vendors such as couches, coffee tables, and statement chairs. Not only will it allow you and your guests to chat and relax with the ocean waves crashing below our venue, but it will also be a great spot for a mini photoshoot.
Upgrades: Swooning over chairs or flatware you can’t see your special day without? Floral arrangements that might have been out of your budget with a larger wedding? Now, you can splurge on the details you’ve been dreaming about.
Specialty Drinks: Offer two different cocktails or ‘mock’-tails that cater to each person. Serve these during your cocktail hour while you are taking photos in Casa Romantica’s lush gardens.
Benefits of a Micro Wedding
Many consider their weddings the happiest day of their lives, and we couldn’t agree more. A wedding is a celebration of love and happiness with those who can’t wait to celebrate with you. Because you’re choosing to keep it small, you can do more with your day.
Extend the Celebration: Make a full weekend of events for you and your guest list. Take a look at our exclusive vendors and choose a hotel destination for your guests to stay and enjoy San Clemente all weekend long.
Loose Schedule: Our exclusive event coordinators will provide the direction and help you need for your day, and you can feel less pressure to squeeze every event into your wedding because you have fewer people to gather, like for the cake cutting or the bouquet toss.
Quality Time: Because you’ve limited your guest count, you can spend more quality time with each person you’ve invited.
Safety Procedures
With COVID-19 regulations still in place and to limit exposure, a micro wedding may serve as a great alternative to a wedding that had to be rescheduled. It may also be a game-changer if you have been planning your wedding and aren’t sure how you might celebrate in the current climate.
