Executive Director Berenika Schmitz will be a panelist at the 2018 American Public Gardens Association Southern California Conference. The panel is about public gardens leadership. The conference is a networking and learning opportunity for gardening experts in the Southern California region.
Berenika will be a panelist for the education session entitled “The Road Less Traveled: Fostering a Creative Path to Public Garden Leadership” on June 6th at the Disneyland Resort. This talk is a part of the conference’s “Leadership, Innovation, and Advocacy” program. The topic overview states that “Successful public garden leaders can emerge from diverse educational and career backgrounds. With a shrinking pool of horticultural talent coupled with the elevated challenge of successfully operating a non-profit organization, the public garden world benefits by embracing and fostering leadership diversity. Learn how five public garden leaders forged a unique path to their current leadership role, utilized their life experiences for creative problem solving, and leveraged the talents of their teams to move their organizations to the next level of financial sustainability.”
