Emmanuel Nkuranga is a self-taught painter based in Kigali, Rwanda. Nkuranga’s work defines contemporary African art with vibrant mixed-media expressionist works created with an unexpected range of materials.
Nkuranga is the co-founder and director of the Inema Art Center, Rwanda’s largest center for visual art, and the founder of ‘Art with a Mission,’ an organization that brings creative opportunities to African orphans. He has been featured in Vogue, CNN, New York Times, Wired, and National Geographic for his work and his community impact. He was the 2015 ambassador in Sweden for refugee art, and has been invited as a guest artist and lecturer at several universities across the United States.
