San Clemente, CA – Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens, an award-winning Southern California 501(c)3 nonprofit, reopens their historic home and art gallery to the public on Saturday, June 20, in accordance with social distancing and safety guidelines provided by the state of California. Casa Romantica’s gardens were previously reopened to the public on May 22.
“Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens recognizes the importance of cultural centers, museums, and public gardens as indispensable to our community’s well-being, offering much-needed places for respite and ample opportunities for enrichment and inspiration,” said Casa Romantica Executive Director Amy Behrens. “We are prioritizing the safety of all visitors, staff, and volunteers to participate responsibly in California’s re-opening process, and are thrilled to offer the beauty of Casa Romantica to our community once again as a premier southern California cultural center.”
The current gallery exhibition is ‘Who Was Nellie Gail Moulton? Pioneer, Artist and so much more.’ Curated by Maurine St. Gaudens Studios, Who Was Nellie Gail Moulton? is the first comprehensive exhibition in over 50 years of artwork created by Orange County pioneer, artist, and philanthropist Nellie Gail Moulton. Originally slated to close on May 31, the exhibition has now been extended to September 6. Guests will be allowed into the gallery one visitor group at a time. The gallery is part of the overall self-guided tour route and includes a separate entrance and exit. A docent will be stationed inside the gallery at all times to answer questions about the exhibition.
Visitors must adhere to safety protocols in place mandated by the California Department of Public Health. Tickets are limited to a maximum of 80 visitors per hour, with a maximum of 40 guests at any one time on Casa Romantica’s 2.5-acre property to ensure safe social distancing, and modifications have been made to the cultural center’s self-guided tour of the home and gardens to adhere to a one-way route. Masks are required to enter the cultural center and for the duration of the visit.
Complimentary take-home maps are available at the front entrance for visitors to take self-guided tours through Casa Romantica. There are several marked hand sanitizer stations throughout the property. Masks, hand sanitizer, and other souvenirs are available for purchase at our Gift Shop.
Admission is $5 through contactless payment via card or cash at the front entrance. All proceeds support the 501(c)3 nonprofit’s preservation and programs that benefit the community. Children under age 13 and active military with ID receive free admission.
Current hours of operation are 10 AM until 4 PM, Tuesdays – Sundays.
While subject to current government health and safety guidelines, Casa Romantica anticipates resuming its award-winning programming onsite later this summer. The upcoming season includes both onsite and remote modalities for participation, enabling the nonprofit to fulfill its mission for people of all ages in a manner that fits each individual’s needs.
