CASA ROMANTICA HOLDS 1ST ANNUAL DANCE WORKSHOP
Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens, San Clemente, CA – Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens is pleased to present the first annual Summer Dance Workshop, where participants will get to try multiple genres of dance including hip hop, jazz, contemporary, and ballet from local dance professionals. Additional improvisation and choreography classes will give dancers the opportunity to create their own movement and dances.
The Dance Workshop is a two-week summer program offering lessons in multiple dance genres to children ages 7 – 12 of all skill levels. The program is a part of the Casa’s ongoing free children programs and is underwritten by Dr. Ron and Margaret Redmond. The Dance Workshop concludes with a recital performance put on by the students.
Music Festival Academy has just started for its 2nd year. Pacific Symphony Associate Concertmaster Paul Manaster will join the faculty this summer as the lead violin instructor. Both programs’ curriculum abide by S.T.E.A.M. guidelines, emphasizing interdisciplinary, project-based learning. Despite extensive research that supports improved memory, enhanced critical thinking, increased aptitude for teamwork, and higher SAT scores as a result of dance and music education, budget cuts and diminished resources deprive many children the ability to experience this type of education in school. Casa Romantica’s kid programs, such as Dance Workshop and Music Academy, were created to fill this important need for the children in the community.
