Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens, San Clemente, CA – Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens is pleased to present the first annual Summer Dance Workshop, a two-week intensive offering lessons in multiple dance genres to children ages 7 – 12. The classes offered include hip hop, jazz, contemporary, and ballet taught by local dance professionals. Additional improvisation and choreography classes will give dancers the opportunity to create their own movement and dances. The program is a part of the Casa’s ongoing free children programs. The Summer Dance Workshop concludes with a student recital performance.
The Summer Dance Workshop curriculum abides by S.T.E.A.M. guidelines, emphasizing interdisciplinary, project-based learning. Despite extensive research that supports improved memory, enhanced critical thinking, increased aptitude for teamwork, and higher SAT scores as a result of dance education, budget cuts and diminished resources deprive many children the ability to experience this type of education in school. Casa Romantica’s Summer Dance Workshop was created to fill this important need for the children in the community.
Also within its Casa Kids programming – The Casa Romantica Music Festival and Academy has commenced its second year. Casa Romantica is pleased to welcome Associate Concertmaster Paul Manaster of the Pacific Symphony to its illustrious faculty. The Music Academy is a free two week summer intensive program offering training in piano, violin, viola, and cello to children ages 8 – 13 of all skill levels. Activities include daily private lessons, practice, music theory, and group activities in the arts. The Academy is made possible through the generosity of Dr. Ron and Margaret Redmond.
