San Clemente, CA – Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens, a nonprofit Southern California cultural center, will host plein air artist Rick J. Delanty in the 2020/21 Season with Casa Romantica’s Artist-in-Residence program that will lead up to Delanty’s Beauty Unites Us solo exhibition.
The Artist-in-Residence program will take place from April 19, 2021 through May 3, 2021 featuring Rick J. Delanty onsite at Casa Romantica painting en plein air for his exhibition and will also include a Dinner with the Artist, demonstrations, and workshops. The exhibition, titled Beauty Unites Us, opens on May 4, 2021 and will be on view through June 6, 2021.
“Rick J. Delanty is one of the most accomplished plein air painters working in southern California today. In fact, several of the most prestigious collections of California Impressionist art held by individuals and foundations in southern California also include works by Rick J. Delanty — oftentimes his are the only works made by a living artist among early twentieth century heavy hitters like William Wendt, Granville Redmond and Edgar Payne,” says Executive Director Amy Behrens. “For guests to be able to watch Delanty paint en plein air at historic Casa Romantica, it’s a unique opportunity to see a master painter at work.”
Beauty Unites Us will feature approximately 24 recent paintings by Delanty, including those painted during the COVID-19 pandemic and painted onsite at Casa Romantica. The exhibition is inspired by 30 published journal entries the artist made during the stay-at-home lockdown in March 2020. Accompanying the exhibition will be a published book of the same title, Beauty Unites Us, that will be available for purchase in the Casa Romantica Gift Shop.
“I hope to awaken emotions of connection to the good in our world, amid the darkness. The selection and portrayal of my subjects will center around the Beautiful, the iconic, romantic and mystical,” says Delanty. “My intention is to portray an experience with nature that is intimate, reflective, and positive.”
