Britt and Brad desired their wedding style to evoke a “romantic boho” aesthetic with nature-based flora and metallic accents that would reflect the beauty of Casa Romantica. Read on to hear how they made it happen at Casa Romantica!
Orange County locals Britt and Brad met six years ago at a game night hosted by mutual friends. Finding that they had a lot in common, they instantly hit it off. Britt jokes that their initial attraction was enhanced by puppy love — literally. “The icing on the cake was Brad’s adorable dog, Rosko,” she says. “He [the puppy] and I immediately fell in love.”
Britt and Brad also fell in love. After a few years of dating seriously, Brad proposed and Britt instantly accepted. The couple’s friend and wedding photographer BrittRene recommended that they consider Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens for their wedding venue, and Britt and Brad were both enamored with the romantic feel of the bluff-top estate.
“From the ocean views to the stunning succulent gardens and Spanish architecture, it really encompasses everything we were looking for in a venue,” Britt and Brad affirmed.
They secured the memorable date of 11/11 (make a wish!) to be married.
As a couple with laid-back personalities, Britt and Brad desired their wedding style to evoke a “romantic boho” aesthetic with nature-based flora and metallic accents that would reflect the beauty of Casa Romantica.
Rustic farmhouse tables topped with succulents, King proteas flowers, and geometric lanterns helped them create the perfect setting for their November wedding. Iva Lee’s Catering created a delicious Southern-inspired menu for guests to savor.
Emily Formentini created a one-of-a-kind metal geometric backdrop for their ceremony. The backdrop glinted in the sunset as the couple said their vows and made a diffused glow around the marriage party. The timing for their ceremony was picture perfect — the early sunset was gorgeous in photographs.
The eye-catching decorative backdrop was later moved to the reception area and placed behind the sweetheart table, echoing the moment when Britt and Brad became united in marriage. The early night sky enhanced their romantically-lit reception with strings of market lights criss-crossing the Courtyard.
Britt and Brad incorporated special details into their wedding to reflect their history as a couple, historic traditions, and their love for their friends, family, and each other. For her “something blue,” Britt followed her mother and sister’s example of pinning her grandfather’s blue handkerchief into her gown.
Brad was inspired by his love of fishing to incorporate a unique ritual into their ceremony. Before saying “I do,” they tied a fisherman’s knot together. The fisherman’s knot is the strongest knot than can be made — a symbol of a true lovers’ knot.
Instead of a traditional guest book, they had a custom domino set (the first game they played together at that fateful game night) made for guests to sign.
In lieu of a photo booth, they hired Sweet-Silhouette to create old-fashioned cameo portraits. The wedding had a joyful and sweet ambiance all night long, from the start of the ceremony on the Ocean Terrace to the last dance in the Main Salon.
Meeting Britt and Brad, it is apparent how strong their love is for each other and how important friends and family are to them. When asked what their favorite wedding moment was, they replied, “It’s hard to choose just one moment!” We think every wedding should be that way — a collection of favorite moments and stories tied up into one special day. We’re thankful to Britt and Brad for making their wedding memories at Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens.
