Jack and Vanessa’s story began when they met on a river rafting adventure in Montana. Jack was living there at the time, while Vanessa was living in California. The pair bonded during their trip and 8 months later, Jack moved to San Francisco and made it his top priority to seek out Vanessa once more.
Jack’s attempt to woo his former river rafting buddy proved to be successful, as he and Vanessa ended up dating. After a few years, the couple was certain that they had found something special and began making plans for the future. Part of those plans included marriage and the pair decided to have a custom engagement ring made for when that time came. They worked with a jeweler to design a beautiful ring with a Montana sapphire–a symbol of their everlasting love. Not long after the ring was finished, Jack proposed with it in the privacy of their home after they had cooked a meal together.
“We knew we wanted to get married outside, near the ocean, with our closest friends and family,” wrote Jack. Casa Romantica is in the heart of San Clemente, a place where Vanessa spent quite a bit of time when she was growing up, which made it the perfect place to host their wedding. Out-of-town guests were impressed by Casa Romantica’s prime beach location and historic architecture.
A “receiving line” after the ceremony added an old school touch to Jack and Vanessa’s wedding. Suggested by Vanessa’s parents, the newlyweds ended up loving the entire process because “it felt great that our guests could meet the amazing people who raised us.”
Jack and Vanessa wanted their wedding to radiate a simple elegance, without overriding the natural beauty of the venue. The color palette they chose included soft sunset colors that perfectly complimented the intimate touches woven into the wedding.
To add an authentic and personal element, Vanessa (a ceramic artist) made beautiful hand-thrown porcelain cups for everyone. The cups sat at each table setting for guests to use during the champagne toasts.” We wanted our guests to know how much their love and support meant to us through a memento handmade by the bride,” Jack explained.
Vanessa and Jack dreamed of having their first dance on the Ocean Terrace, however when the time came they were informed that it was raining. When given the option to continue with the plan to dance outside “Vanessa’s immediate response was ‘Of course!’” The rain seemed to make the moment all the more magical, and was complimented by an incredible San Clemente sunset. Reminiscing about the night, Jack says his favorite moment was “Dancing the night away with friends and family, in front of a roaring fireplace while it rained outside.”
Whether they’re white water rafting in Montana or dancing in the rain in California, we are sure that Jack and Vanessa have a lifetime full of love and adventures ahead of them.
